Week #6 October 1-5, 2012

Literature: Short Stories 
Writing: Literary Analysis
Vocabulary: SS/Pedetrian words - commiserate, disengage, indomitable, rudimentary, savoring, unavailing, voluble, wizened, revue, halt, ebb, murmur, antiseptic, regressive, tendencies

Homework:
  • - SAT vocab notes on "A Sound of Thunder" additional words - due: Oct. 2
  • - Annotated "The Pedestrian" - due: Oct. 1
Monday
  • Today, you will take a quiz on the additional words from ASOT. Timed for 15 minutes.
  • After the quiz, you will be given the additional minutes for the PSAT practice test.
  • And then, we will analyze tone and mood in "The Pedestrian." You will provide context clues to the tone and mood.
Tuesday
  • Review the outline for an essay.
  • Go over a sample literary analysis essay on foreshadowing in ASOT.
  • Write an outline of a literary analysis on characterization.  
  • Students who finish early and have conferred with me will work on a sentence combining or rearranging assignment or an imagery analysis assignment on "The Pedestrian".
Wednesday
  • Write the introduction of the literary analysis essay.
  • Students who finish early and have conferred with me will work on a sentence combining or rearranging assignment or an imagery analysis assignment on "The Pedestrian".
Thursday - Friday
  • Write the body paragraphs.
  • Write the conclusion.
