Homework:

  • SAT Vocabulary notes, Act III and IV words - due: Wednesday, April 17
Activities:
  • On Monday, students will take a short quiz covering vocabulary words for Act III and IV.  After the quiz, students will continue to read Othello.
  • On Tuesday through Friday, students will continue to read and annotate Othello
  • Discuss guide questions and analyze the use of Shakespearean conventions in Othello

Vocabulary: Act IV (Week #29 vocabulary)

Homework:

  • SAT vocabulary notes - due: April 16
On Monday, 3rd period will have WITS, but the other class will continue reading Othello
On Tuesday, classes that did not have WITS Monday will have WITS today. 3rd period will continue to read Othello.
From Wednesday to Friday, all classes will read Othello.  A reading check on Act II will be given at the end of this week.

Activities:

On Monday when you get back from the break, you will take a quiz covering last week's vocabulary and Act I of Othello.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, you will write the first draft of a persuasive essay and conference with me. 
  • Wednesday - Dr. McConn will discuss the STAAR test and the difference between  persuasive and expository essay.
On Thursday and Friday, we will continue reading and discussing Othello and watch a little bit more of the film adaptation of the play.

Vocabulary: Act II #s 8-15 spur, infirmity, frailty, babble, prate, clamor, importune, dilatory

Homework:

  • SAT vocab notes - due: Wednesday, March 6
Monday - Friday
WARM-UP exercise: SAT question of the day
  • Due to the shortened period schedule on Monday, we will continue to read the play and discuss questions and answers.
  • We will take a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday.  It will cover the vocabulary words from the week before and Shakespearean drama terms.
  • Continue to read and discuss Othello on Tuesday.
  • We will have WITS writing on Wednesday. 
  • On Thursday, we will look at an essay and edit and revise it as a class.
  • Students will bring their rewritten essay on Friday. 
  • Students will read an article and identify examples of logos, ethos, and pathos in it. While students are reading, select students will conference with me about the essay written previously.
  • Part of the time in class on Friday will be spent on sentence structure.
